Every fan run convention relies on volunteers, and we will need plenty.
Volunteering provides an opportunity to gain free admission for this year or next year. Early volunteers who join the convention committee (or con com, as it’s called), will get in for free! Volunteers who join later will be given free admission for the following year (to keep people from saying they’ll volunteer and then ghosting) in exchange for a minimum number of volunteer hours.
Volunteering is also an excellent resume builder! By listing the things you volunteered for, you can demonstrate your project management skills and gain better job offers. Volunteering is also an excellent way to obtain references for those jobs that require them.
Other perquisites offered to volunteers can include 1) preferred admission to any Kaffee Klatsch 2) free merch such as a t-shirt, button, hat or sticker 3) preferred promotion for one’s brand if they have one.
